Villages to be Flooded with Cars after Tory Council U-Turn

Local campaigner Fiona McAnespie said, “Local people are angry at this U-Turn by Conservative-run Swindon Council. Many people think the Conservatives only care about the town and take the villages for granted. Our villages need a stronger voice on Swindon Council.”

Location of the new 8,000 house development:

Like many local residents, Fiona believes the 8,000 house new estate is being built far too close to the villages. The new estate starts at Redlands Airfield, less than one mile from Wanborough.

The plan has changed, and the villages will suffer:

Originally the 8,000 houses were to be built from South Marston downwards, with the part nearest Wanborough built last along with an access road to take cars to the A419. Now the development is starting next to Wanborough instead but the access road is not being built earlier.

This means residents of these 2,200 houses will have no choice but to drive through Wanborough every time they want to leave their house.

The Conservative Council have allowed this to happen, but Fiona is challenging them and has started a petition – click here to sign it today!
