Dawn, originally from Great Bedwyn, has lived in Swindon since training as a nurse at Princess Margaret hospital and nursed at Stratton St. Margaret hospital. Being married to Stan has meant her family life has revolved around local politics. She has a keen interest in education and works at Holy Rood primary school. A particular recent issue she feels strongly about is the Government proposal of removing the need for schools to have parent governors which is completely against what parents want. Recent controversial Council proposals such as car park charges at country parks, the need to preserve Swindon’s heritage and cuts to the library service all confirm Dawn’s belief that councillors need to be more in tune with what residents want.
